Grand Theft Auto III follows Claude through Liberty City in a single-player open world. Explore on foot, drive vehicles and follow the story missions in this browser player.
Select Play now, then Start game. Wait for the startup package and engine, and follow the opening objective in Portland. Use the radar and mission text to find the next destination.
Use a desktop keyboard and mouse. Click inside the game to focus controls, press Esc to pause and save at an available safehouse before closing the player.
Grand Theft Auto III follows Claude through Liberty City. Start the player and wait for the engine and startup package to finish downloading. The opening introduces your escape and the trip to a safehouse in Portland. Follow the mission text and radar rather than driving into an unfamiliar district immediately.
Click inside the game if the keyboard stops responding after using the page controls. Use Esc to pause and review the control settings. On foot, try walking, turning the camera and entering a car before following the first objective. A desktop browser with keyboard and mouse is recommended; touch gameplay has not been verified here.
WASD or the arrow keys move Claude on foot and steer a vehicle while driving. F or Enter enters or leaves a nearby car. Space changes from a jump on foot to the handbrake while driving, so learn each context before a chase. Leave braking room at intersections and use short steering corrections at speed.
The radar and on-screen instructions identify the current objective. If a wanted level interrupts the route, deal with the pursuit before trying to reach a distant marker. Free exploration and mission progress are separate: opening the city in a browser does not unlock all islands or complete story objectives for you.
The startup data package is about 116 MB, plus the engine. Models, effects, dialogue and radio files can load later. The first visit therefore needs a stable connection and more time than a cached return visit. Opening the guide alone does not download the game: the player starts after you select Play now and Start game.
Save using an available safehouse before closing the player. Game progress belongs to this site and the current browser profile; it does not transfer from the source site or follow your directory favorites. Clearing site data, private browsing or storage eviction can remove local saves. No cross-device cloud synchronization is provided. Click inside the game to allow audio and check browser mute settings if it is silent.
The following controls are listed by the default PC control layout. Check the in-game instructions for remapping and additional actions.
