Play Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo free online in your browser. This is Capcom’s 1996 CPS2 falling-gem puzzle game, Euro 960529, running in Internet Archive’s public emulator. Move and rotate gem pairs to build attacks against the computer. No app or browser plugin needs installing; the emulator and game files still load over the network.
Choose Play now and then Click to Begin in the archive player. Wait for the arcade to boot and focus the game. Insert virtual coins with 5, then press 1 for Player 1; two presses of 5 worked in our test. Confirm VS COM, a difficulty and a character with left Control, allowing each menu transition to finish. We chose Normal and Ryu and entered a puzzle round against Ken. The left gem well and its score belong to Player 1.
In the desktop test, Left moved the pair to the leftmost column, left Control changed the blue/green pair from vertical to horizontal, and holding Down landed gems and raised the score from 0 to 20. That verifies placement and rotation, not a completed campaign or a tested high-level chain. First place pairs deliberately rather than dropping every piece as fast as possible.
Ordinary same-color gems do not disappear simply because they touch. Connect a Crash Gem to matching gems to break the connected group. A solid rectangular block of one color forms a Power Gem; breaking it produces a stronger attack than scattering the same gems.
Keep at least one accessible route to a color group. Burying every potential connection under unrelated pieces can leave you waiting for a useful Crash Gem while the well fills.
Attacks send Counter Gems into the opponent’s well. Their countdown delays when they become normal gems. Plan space for incoming pressure instead of assuming your current clean board will stay empty.
For an early chain, arrange one clear so that falling gems can create the next connection. Do not describe every large group as a chain: consecutive triggered clears are different from one big break. Character choice changes the attack pattern, so keep one character while learning the board.
Read NEXT before committing a pair. Use Left/Right to choose a column and rotate while there is still room; Down speeds the fall rather than providing a modern instant hard drop. Avoid sealing the entry at the top of the well.
VS COM is the tested route. VS HUMAN appeared as a menu option, but a second local player and cross-device online play were not verified. Normal’s eight-stage label is a menu observation, not a claim that we cleared all eight.
Coin/start, VS COM, difficulty, character selection, left movement, Control rotation and Down placement were observed in the exact source. P was used between inspections. Gamepads and the alternate rotation button were not independently tested.
| Key | Action |
|---|---|
| 5, then 1 | Virtual coin, then Player 1 start; no payment |
| Left / Right | Move the active gem pair or menu choice |
| Down | Accelerate the falling pair |
| Left Control | Rotate the pair; confirm menus |
| P | Pause/resume MAME during practice |
| Tab | Open/close emulator input settings |
Tested on desktop Chromium on macOS, November 5, 2026. Internet Archive supplies the external emulator. Let initial resource loading and menu transitions finish before pressing again; the source game uses its own English interface.
Physical Android and iPhone/iPad have not been tested. Touch, simultaneous presses, sound, orientation changes and fullscreen exit remain unverified. A small-screen layout does not establish playable phone controls; use the tested desktop keyboard route.
If keys do nothing, click inside the player and close the Tab menu. Confirm you started P1 rather than watching the automatic demonstration. Refreshing can lose the round; restored progress, persistent scores and audio output are not verified.

In this arcade game, ordinary matching gems need a same-color Crash Gem to trigger a break. A rectangle can become a Power Gem but does not disappear just for forming one.
It is a competitive falling-gem puzzle game. Only Player 1 against the CPU was tested here; no network matchmaking or second-device play is promised.
The source identifies Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo, Euro 960529, by Capcom (1996). This page embeds that arcade version, not a Windows installer, a console port, an HD revision or Super Gem Fighter Mini Mix. The characters fight as a result of puzzle actions; they are not controlled with Street Fighter punch and kick commands.
