Play Pac-Man free online in the 1980 Namco arcade game, using the Midway-licensed set. Clear every small dot and power pellet from the maze while avoiding Blinky, Pinky, Inky and Clyde. The external player works in your browser without an app or plugin installation; game resources still load over the network. This page is for the original maze game, not Ms. Pac-Man, Pac-Man Plus or a speed-up hack.
Select Play now, allow the external player and click its PLAY NOW button. Wait for the arcade to boot, then click inside the picture. Press Right Shift and check CREDIT, then Enter for player one. Wait until PLAYER ONE and READY disappear. Use the arrow keys to steer through corridors; there is no jump or attack button. Confirm that dots disappear along your route and that the 1UP score rises.
Coins are virtual key presses with no payment. Right Shift means the key on the right side of the keyboard. Click the picture again if the keyboard-focus message appears. The attract demonstration also moves through a maze: credits, PLAYER ONE startup and your own turns distinguish a started session from that demo.
Pac-Man keeps moving until a wall or a new direction changes the route. Hold the next direction as you approach an intersection instead of waiting until you have passed it. A turn only happens where the maze has an opening; pressing toward a wall does not create a new passage.
Start by clearing a small connected section while keeping a second exit in mind. Avoid entering a dead end when a ghost is already close behind. The side tunnel connects opposite sides of the board and can change an approach, but check both entrances before treating it as a safe escape.
Small dots are worth 10 points and large power pellets 50. In early mazes a power pellet makes ghosts vulnerable for a limited time. Blue ghosts can be eaten; when they begin flashing, stop chasing a distant target and plan your exit. Frightened behavior changes as the game advances, so do not assume the same safety window on every board.
A useful first goal is to clear the nearby corridor after a power pellet rather than chase all four ghosts. Leaving a pellet until a dangerous approach gives it an escape purpose. Fruit is optional bonus scoring; collecting it is not required to clear the maze.
Blinky, the red ghost, directly targets Pac-Man during chase behavior. Pinky targets ahead of the player's heading; Inky's targeting also involves Blinky's position. Clyde switches between approaching and retreating depending on distance. Scatter phases change their targets again. These are different movement rules, not four identical random enemies.
For a first session, watch the nearest junction and the next escape route rather than trying to calculate every ghost target. If two ghosts approach from different corridors, use an available power pellet or retreat before the intersection closes. Practise a repeatable opening route, but do not assume it remains safe after a mistimed turn.
Player 1 defaults from the embedded player's Controls Settings. Right Shift means the Shift key on the right of the keyboard. Click inside the game before pressing keys; remapped keys take precedence.

Desktop Chrome on macOS was used to check startup and keyboard input on October 31, 2026. The game runs in an external RetroGames.cc player. No app or browser plugin installation is required; game and emulator resources still download after you start.
Android phones and iPhone/iPad have not been tested on physical devices. Touch controls, simultaneous button presses, sound and fullscreen behavior are unverified. Use a desktop keyboard for the verified setup; a smaller screen alone does not establish phone compatibility.
A page favorite only bookmarks the game. Automatic progress recovery and the provider's save-state or online-play features have not been verified. Reloading can lose the current session. For missing sound, interact with the game and check its speaker control; for ignored keys, click the game again.

No. In the early mazes, a power pellet temporarily makes blue ghosts vulnerable; touching one then eats it. Ordinary ghosts remain dangerous. This original Pac-Man has four directional inputs and no jump or manual attack button.
A short player-one desktop Chrome session with keyboard control was verified. Physical Android and iPhone/iPad, gamepad input, persistent high scores, save recovery and network multiplayer have not been verified. The original cabinet’s alternating two-player option is not a promise of simultaneous online play.
Version: Pac-Man (Midway), 1980 arcade, Namco under Midway license. The public player Embed Code and FBNeo set record identify the original pacman set, distinct from the harder and speed-up variants. The official PAC-MAN history documents the original 1980 release.
